IN THE MAIN GALLERY
Connected
3 September to 3 October
The three dimensional artists that form the Clay Feet group of ceramists will transform the Main Gallery space into a feast of surface, texture, pattern and form. With sculptural ceramics by six emerging and established female artists; Jillian Archibald, Elaine Bradley, Pauline Mann, Narda McMahon, Gillian Treichel and Andrea Vinkovic.
IN THE COMMUNITY ROOM
Shapes Beneath the Surface
Shapes Beneath the Surface reveals a series of new work in an installation by ceramist Anne Ryan. Anne’s exploration of surface through ceramics is inspired by the ancient rock formations and unique life forms found along the south-west coast. Using found objects, including man-made materials, Anne creates the texture on the exterior of her work, which then dictates the form and shape of each piece.
These exhibitions showcase each artist’s different approach to clay practice and they are supported by a series of ceramics workshops and demonstrations throughout the month.

MUNDARING HILLS OPEN ARTISTS STUDIOS
Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of October
The Hills area east of Perth has long been known as a place where artists and craftspeople choose to live as the semi rural nature of the area provides space and inspiration for their art practice.
Nine artists from the Shire of Mundaring have banded together to offer visitors an opportunity to visit their studios on the last weekend in October. This will give the public a chance to talk to the artists and see how they go about making their art and buy direct if they wish.
A Mundaring Hills Open Studios map is available for you (Page 1 / Page 2) and gives clear directions on how to get to the studios where parking will be provided and entry is free. The dates for 2010 are Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of October. The studios will be open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm both days.
The artists and craftspeople on the Mundaring Hills Open Studios map are Brian Aylward, Madeleine Clear, Greg Crowe, Inta Goddard, Christine Hingston, Jeremy Holton, Judy Kotai, Graeme Pages-Oliver and Joel Smoker.
The artist’s work can also be seen and purchased at the Mundaring Arts Centre. A number of the artists have their own web site which can be found on the map. The artist’s studio map is also accessible on Google.
October is a great time to visit the hills as the wildflowers are in full bloom and the weather’s fine. Put a drive visit to the artist studios of Mundaring in your diary now. The artists would love to meet you and share their work with you.
